Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GP referral for the Liver Check?
No. You can book the Liver Check directly. If the assessment shows something that needs specialist care, we can refer you to a hepatologist or gastroenterologist.
How should I prepare?
We ask you not to eat for around six hours before your appointment, as this gives a clearer view of the liver and gallbladder. You can drink water. Full instructions are sent when you book.
What is a FibroScan and why is it included?
A FibroScan is a quick, painless scan that measures liver stiffness and fat, helping to assess fibrosis and fatty liver. Combined with the ultrasound and consultation, it gives a fuller picture than any single test.
When will I get my results?
The main findings are explained to you on the day, and a written report is issued within 24 hours.
