Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GP referral for the Heart Check?
No. You can book directly. If your results suggest you need further care, we can refer you to a consultant cardiologist.
Why does the check include both an ECG and an echocardiogram?
An ECG shows the heart's electrical rhythm, while an echocardiogram is an ultrasound that shows its structure, valves and pumping function. Together with the consultation they give a fuller assessment than any single test.
How long does the appointment take?
Allow around an hour. This covers your consultation, both tests and time to discuss the initial findings with your clinician.
When will I get my results?
The main findings are explained on the day, and a full written report is issued within 24 hours.
