Frequently asked questions
How early can I have this scan?
A reassurance scan is usually most helpful from around six weeks, when a heartbeat can often be seen. Before this it may be too early for a clear result, and we may suggest returning in a week or two.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book the Early Pregnancy Reassurance scan directly. If anything is found that needs further care, we can refer you to an obstetric team.
Will the scan be internal or abdominal?
In very early pregnancy a transvaginal (internal) scan often gives the clearest view. Your sonographer explains the options and only proceeds with your consent.
When will I get my report?
The findings are explained to you during the appointment, and a written report is provided the same day along with your images.
